Resolving SEQTA Student Submission Issues - iPad version
Upload Errors, Missing Buttons, and OneDrive Conflicts (iPad)
This guide outlines the most common reasons students are unable to submit assessment tasks via SEQTA Learn, particularly when using OneDrive on iPads. It includes causes, fixes, and prevention tips.
Issue 1: Submission Button Missing or Unavailable In Seqta Learn
Possible Causes:
The student has already submitted the assessment. Once submitted, the submissions button disappears unless reopened by the teacher.
The due date has passed. Seqta disables submission access after the deadline.
The teacher has started marking, which can prevent further submissions by students who haven't uploaded yet.
Solution:
Check the due date and marking status in Seqta Teach
If needed, the teacher can reopen submissions or extend the due date in Seqta Teach settings.
Issue 2: Student Selects a File, but It Won’t Upload (No Error Message)
Likely Cause:
Specific OneDrive-related causes:
-
File path is too long:
OneDrive has a 400 character limit for the full file path (including folder structure and file name).
Example of problematic structure:
/OneDrive/Documents/2025/Semester 2/English/Creative Writing/Week 4
/Draft/My_Final_Assessment_Draft_Version_Two.docx
This exceeds the limit and results in the file appearing selectable but not uploading.
-
Folder or file name includes emojis or special characters:
Solutions:
Save the file in a short, simple location in OneDrive (e.g. /OneDrive/Assessments/).
Keep file names short and free of emojis or unusual characters.
Ensure the total path length stays well under 400 characters.
Issue 3: Student Clicks 'Add Files' but Cannot Upload from OneDrive
Scenario:
When students go to submit their work via Seqta and click on Add Files, they are presented with three options:
My Device
In Seqta
OneDrive
Problem:
Even if the file is saved in OneDrive on the iPad, selecting the OneDrive option from SEQTA does not work as expected. This is a known app integration issue and will often result in no file being attached.
Correct Workflow:
Recommendation:
This instruction should be communicated clearly to students to avoid confusion during submission.
Best Practice Recommendations (for Teachers and Students)
Use short, clear folder structures in OneDrive. Avoid deeply nested folders.
Remove emojis and symbols from folder and file names.
Submit tasks before the due date to avoid automatic lockout.
If the submission button is missing, check whether the task has been already submitted or marked.
Always select My Device when uploading from an iPad, even for OneDrive files.
