Enable Family Sharing between your Apple Devices
This guide assumes that both you and your child already have Apple ID's and are logged in to your Apple ID's on your respective devices. If your child is younger than 13, you may be required to create an account for them.
Please note that once your child turns 13 years old, they will be allowed to leave your Apple Family without your approval.
- As the parent, launch the Family Sharing menu on your iOS device (iPad or iPhone)
Settings > Apple ID Profile (This will show as your name) > Family Sharing
- Select Add Member located in the top right corner of the Family Sharing sub-menu. If your child is younger than 13 years old and they don't currently have an Apple ID, you may create an account for them at this screen by selecting Create Child Account. If your child already has an Apple ID, please continue to the next step.
- Select invite others.
- There are a few different ways to request your child to join your Apple Family. In my example, I've sent the request via AirDrop - though you could send the request via iMessage, email or click ...more if none of these methods are suitable. Once you've sent the request, select Done.
- After your child has accepted your invitation, they will appear as a member of your Apple Family. You can review and confirm this by selecting Family located under your Apple ID Profile - Settings > Family.
